AKOG is the artisanal soul from the Atelier of Arjun Khanna - a label born in 1989 from obsession, built on legacy, and handcrafted in India by master artisans. Each limited-edition piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, steeped in the traditions of bespoke tailoring, military clothing, vintage workwear, and the rich history of denim culture.
“Denim was my first love – and it remains the most enduring relationship of my life.” - Arjun Khanna
Specialising in clothes made from the finest Japanese selvedge denim and vintage textiles, the label is renowned for its timeless design aesthetic, revered hand-crafted construction, use of century old artisanal techniques that include Japanese Sashiko stitching and Boro patchwork, Indian kantha, intricate hand embroidery and a purist's eye for fabric, form, and function.
Every piece is dreamt, sketched, cut, and crafted by Arjun Khanna and put together by his team of highly skilled artisans and craftsmen.
“Over the past 40 years, I've devoted myself not just to designing with denim but to studying and understanding it: from its origins in Italy and France, to its application in the American West, and resurrection as a medium of cultural expression in Japan, transition from workwear to counterculture staple and everyday streetwear, to luxury essential, and the extraordinary craftsmanship behind every weave, warp, and weft.” - Arjun Khanna
The inspiration for AK OG draws from Arjun’s personal library which holds countless rare books and archival catalogues chronicling denim’s incredible rich global history global, and his private collection of vintage pieces—numbering over 300—an ode to that lifelong obsession.
Among these are true icons from the 1940s and beyond: Levi’s 501s that have lived through decades and decades, Wrangler rodeo cuts with original chain-stitching, Lee Storm Riders, early editions from the most iconic Japanese brands, and garments that were once worn by miners, bikers, soldiers, rail and factory workers. Each piece has been a lesson in fabric, culture, and time.
“To me, Denim is more than a material—it’s a map of human movement, culture and evolution. I wear it not just on my sleeve, but in my soul.” - Arjun Khanna
These aren't just garments - they're collectible heirlooms for the denim-obsessed and design-savvy alike. Rugged. Rare. Revered. This is denim and workwear reimagined - not just to be worn, but to be kept, used, loved, and passed down to the next generation.
AKOG is now available exclusively through select global retail partners and will soon also be available in India at our flagship boutique in Mumbai.
